Car history:
1) Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this beautiful numbers matching 1972 Corvette Coupe in fantastic driver condition and with only 60,030 original miles. It is loaded with options such as air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, and tilt and telescopic steering column. This Corvette looks absolutely amazing with a stunning Sunflower Yellow paintjob. The Sunflower Yellow over Black Vinyl color combination is highly desirable, truly striking, and looks great on this Corvette body style. It is also the correct and original color scheme as verified by the codes on the trim tag, which is pictured below. This Corvette is completely Numbers Matching with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the engine pad, which is pictured below, and the engine is original to the car. The transmission is also original with the last six digits of the VIN stamped on the main case and pictured below.

There are over $5,000 in receipts from the previous owner for work and maintenance completed on the car over the past few years by a Corvette specialist shop. Also included with the car are many photos showing the car when it was painted. We have this car priced to sell and are offering an excellent opportunity to own a very desirable Corvette at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come as the market on C3 chrome bumper Corvettes from 1968 to 1972 is absolutely red hot right now and on the rise. Please peruse all of the photos, video, list of numbers, and other information below to get a true sense of how nice this Corvette really is.

As a side note, this Corvette is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our Corvettes come from owners who expect their car to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the Corvette, just give us a call.

The 1972 Corvette was truly the end of an era. 1972 was the last year to feature chrome bumpers and the egg crate grill, it is considered to be the last year of truly classic Corvettes. Years after were more at the mercy of insurance companies, fuel prices, and emission concerns, 1972 is considered the last good year. It was also the last year to feature a pop out rear window, and the first year that the way horsepower ratings are measured changed from gross to the more accurate net. As in investment, the 1972 will always have an advantage and out perform other years because of its precedence as the end of a a very great period for Corvette and muscle cars as a whole.
Please note when checking the numbers that not only do the correct stampings and casting numbers appear on the parts, but all of the dates are also chronologically correct. This means that all of the parts were made and assembled in the correct order. For example, all of the dates for the individual engine components and the engine casting date should obviously precede the assembly date of the engine because the parts had to be produced before they could be assembled. All of the parts I checked follow this rule and are dated correctly.
Body Build Date, C19: C corresponds to October, and the 19 is the nineteenth day of the month meaning this Corvette's body build date is October 19, 1971.
Engine Code V1005: V means the engine was build in the Flint, MI plant. The 10 is the tenth month of year and the 05 is the fifth day of the month meaning the engine was assembled on October 5, 1971. This is correct as it precedes the build date of the car.
Suffix Code CKX: This means the motor was intended for a 350ci 200hp Corvette with an automatic transmission, which is correct for this car.
Engine VIN Stamping 505174: The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 505174, are stamped on the engine pad and pictured below meaning this engine is original to this car.
Engine Block Casting Number 3970010: The engine block has a correct 3790010 casting number a small block 1971 Corvette.
Engine Block Casting Date J11: J is October, the first 1 is the first day of the month, and the second 1 is the last digit of the calendar year so the engine block was cast on October 1, 1971. Which is correct as it predates the assembly date of the engine.
Distributor 1112050: The band on the distributor has the correct 1112050 number for a 1972 Corvette.
Distributor Date Code 1J14: The 1 is the last digit of the calendar year, the J denotes September and 14 is the fourteenth day of the month meaning the distributor was made on September 14, 1971.
Intake manifold Casting Number 3973469: The intake has the correct 3973469 casting number, which is actually a 1971 Corvettes casting number.
Intake Manifold Block Casting Date A 25 1: A is January, 25 is the twenty-fifth day of the month, and 1 is the last digit of the calendar year so this intake was cast on January 25, 1971.
Carburetor 7042202: The carburetor is correct and original for a 1972 Corvette is and automatic transmission and without California emissions with a 7042202 stamping, which is right for this car. The 70 is a code used on all Rochester carbs from 1965-1975. The third digit, 4, indicates it was made in the 1970 to 1975 production run. The fourth digit, 2, is the model year, 1972. The fifth digit, 2, indicates that it is a 4BBL Quadrajet carb. The sixth digit, 0, means is was built for the Chevrolet division of GM. The last digit, 2, means it was intended for use with an automatic transmission , which is correct for this car.
Carburetor Date Code 1971: The 197 is the 197th day of the year and the 1 is the last digit of the calendar year so this carb was made on July 15, 1971.
Exhaust Manifold Left 3932491: The left exhaust manifold has a 3932461 casting number, which is correct for a 1972 Corvette.
Exhaust Manifold Right: 3932467: The right exhaust manifold has a 3932461 casting number, which is correct for a 1972 Corvette.
Transmission 72-CK: The 72 is the model year, 1972. The C means the transmission was made for a Chevrolet vehicle, and the K means is was intended for a 350ci Corvette, which is correct for this car.
Transmission Date Code 272: The assembly date code for the 1972 model year starts with the first day of the calendar year in 1971 and continues through the calendar year in 1972. This means 272 is the 272nd day starting with January 1, 1971, which indicates the transmission is dated September 28, 1971.
Transmission VIN Stamping 505174: The last 6 digits of the car's VIN, 505174, are stamped on the main case of the transmission and pictured below meaning this transmission is original to this car.
Driver's Window YN: The Y is October and the N is 1971 so this window is original, made in October of 1971. This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Passenger Window TN: The T is August and the N is 1971 so this window is original, made in August of 1971. This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Rear Window UN: The U is July and the N is 1971 so this window is original, made in July of 1971. This is correct as it predates the build date of the car.
Most information obtained from Alan A. Colvin's Corvette by the Numbers and Mike Antonick's Corvette Black Book.
Exterior: The Sunflower Yellow exterior is in spectacular driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the finish has dazzling gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. Both doors open and shut nicely. The wheels and center caps are in excellent condition with a great finish. Please note that this car has the correct and original 4-clip style beauty rings, not the cheap aftermarket replacements. The tires are correctly sized 225/70R15. The chrome and other bright looks great with no pitting or cloudiness. There are a few very tiny blemishes around car that were too small to show up in pictures, but nothing else that is really noticeable from about five feet away. There are many photos below to show the condition of the underside. There is evidence of some rust around the windshield. There has been some welding done to the frame and some suspension components over years, some of which is visible in the photos.
Window Date Codes: Please note that almost all of the glass on this Corvette, both Astro Ventilation door windows and even the pop-out rear window, is date coded and original as each piece predates the car's body build date of October 19, 1971 (C19). Original glass is a good indication that this car has had no major accident history and never sustained significant damage.
Interior: The Black interior of the Corvette is in outstanding condition and looks almost brand new. The seats look like they have never been used with no excessive wear, holes or split seams. The seats are not worn in the typical area where the driver gets in and out. The carpet is in also in great condition condition with no stains or rips. This includes the rear carpet, which is often neglected. The gauge faces are clean and crisp and the lenses are clear. The original radio works and most importantly the dash has never been cut or modified for an aftermarket installation. The dash and console are in great shape with no cracks, fading, or sun damage. The door panels also look like new with no splits and no cracking on the arm pad where the driver's elbow would sit.
Mechanical: This Corvette seems to be in decent mechanical condition. There over $5,000 in receipts for work and maintenance from the previous owner. It starts right away from cold and runs well. The car is a great driver that feels nice the road and at highway speeds. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that there are no vibrations and the car performs quite well overall. The car runs cool and does not overheat. The transmission shifts well throughout the power band. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other, but do take a lot of pedal pressure. Also, the engine compartment is clean, detailed, and correct as one can see in the photos. The upper ignition shielding is still in place. The blower motor for the heater and a/c works on all speeds. All of the gauges work with the obvious exception of the clock. As with many older carbureted cars it is a bit cold blooded. The vacuum system for the headlights and wipers work eventually, but they take a bit of time to open. As stated above this car does have many service records, however it still needs some work to be truly dialed in and run perfectly. The car always starts when hot, but the gas panel has to be pressed to the floor. The car also has some leaks. The a/c does not work, but there the compressor spins freely, there is a belt on it, and the a/c system is complete. I would encourage any perspective buyer to look at the car in person or have it inspected if possible to get the best sense of how it runs.
Overall Condition: Overall, this 1972 Corvette looks fantastic. Numbers matching is extremely important in Corvette pricing and as one can see, this car is quite correct. There are photos below of the VIN stamp on the engine block, suffix code, engine assembly date, transmission date, and transmission VIN stamp. In my opinion and based on our experience the Chrome Bumper cars from 1968-1972 are the most collectible and hottest in the entire Corvette market right now. The value of these cars has gone up exponentially in recent years. They are all solid investments for a collector. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort. 60,030 miles. Sold for $22,900 on January 31, 2018.
